Marbles

Marbles are a currency you earn by playing with Pokémon, and there is one kind per type. Catching and battling Fire Pokémon earns Fire marbles, Water earns Water marbles, and so on.

You cannot buy them and you cannot trade them. They come from playing.

The market sells legendary encounters. Paying for one summons that legendary for you personally, so nobody else can take it while it is yours.

Encounters are grouped into five tiers, from common up to mythic, and each one costs marbles of the types that legendary is. Articuno wants Ice and Flying, which means the way to afford it is to go and play with Ice and Flying Pokémon.

Each entry has its own cooldown after you buy it, so the market is something you come back to rather than something you clear in an afternoon.
