Form Items

Held items that change what a Pokemon is

These are not gimmicks. There is no button to press and nothing to wear: a Pokémon holds the item and changes, and it changes back when you take it away.

There are a lot of them, so this is the index.

Silvally: Memories

Silvally's type is decided entirely by the Memory disc it holds. There is one for each of the 18 types.

Take the disc away and Silvally goes back to Normal. Swap the disc and the type swaps with it, mid team if you want, which is what makes Silvally worth building.

Arceus: Plates

Arceus works the same way, with Plates. A Plate raises the power of its type's moves for anyone holding it, and turns Arceus into that type.

Draco Plate for Dragon, Flame Plate for Fire, Icicle Plate for Ice, and so on through the types.

The Legend Plate is the special one: instead of locking Arceus to a type, it changes its type to match the move it is using.

Genesect: Drives

Genesect's Techno Blast changes type with the cassette it holds.

Drive Techno Blast becomes
Burn Drive Fire
Chill Drive Ice
Douse Drive Water
Shock Drive Electric

Without a drive, Techno Blast stays Normal.

Rotom: Appliances

Rotom possesses household appliances, and each one gives it a second type and a different signature move.

Unit Rotom form
Fan Unit Fan Rotom, Flying
Fridge Unit Frost Rotom, Ice
Mow Unit Mow Rotom, Grass
Oven Unit Heat Rotom, Fire
Wash Unit Wash Rotom, Water

Ogerpon: Masks

Ogerpon changes type and gets a different defensive profile depending on the mask.

Mask What it does
Cornerstone Mask Leans into defence
Hearthflame Mask Leans into offence
Wellspring Mask Leans into special defence

Ogerpon has a full walkthrough in Transformations.

The signature orbs

Several legendaries have an orb that boosts their own types when held.

Orb Pokémon Boosts
Adamant Orb Dialga Dragon and Steel
Lustrous Orb Palkia Dragon and Water
Griseous Orb Giratina Dragon and Ghost

Their Hisuian counterparts, the Adamant Crystal, Lustrous Globe and Griseous Core, do the same job with more of it.

The Red Orb and Blue Orb are different: those trigger Primal Reversion for Groudon and Kyogre rather than boosting moves. Each has its own page under Transformations.

Odds and ends

  • Booster Energy boosts the strongest stat of a Pokémon with Protosynthesis or Quark Drive.
  • PikaCase switches Cosplay Pikachu between its forms.
  • Gracidea Flower turns Shaymin into Sky Forme.
  • Deoxys Meteorite cycles Deoxys between its four forms.
  • Prison Bottle switches Hoopa between Confined and Unbound.
  • Rusted Sword and Rusted Shield give Zacian and Zamazenta their Crowned forms.

Each of those last few has a step by step page under Transformations.
